Photo was taken yesterday next to O’Connell Bridge, Dublin (Irl)

Heavy thundery rain fell in many parts along the east coast of Ireland yesterday. Despite the rain these flowers added some colour and life to many shoppers as they passed near O’Connell bridge yesterday.

Jesus said: “I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe. They will go freely in and out and be sure of finding pasture”. John 10:8-10

Gates as we know come in all shapes and sizes. A gate can either let you in or keep you out. Sadly today we see more and more of big electric gates in front of homes. These have been put in as an added measure of security but they can also keep people out as well.
In this piece from scipture Jesus gently reminds us that he is like a gate and the beautiful reassuring words that whoever enters through his gate will be safe. We can make these words our own. No matter what our circumstances, what we may have done there will always be a welcome for us. We are also reminded of the freedom that is offered to us by entering this gate and of finding meaning and fulfillment. No one is going to be forced through the gate but for anyone who is willing to cross the threshold the rewards are many.
