Photo from the archive was taken near Killarney, Co.Kerry (Irl)

It must be one of the most photographed waterfalls in the world. It draws thousands and thousands of people each year to see this waterfall wonder. No matter how many times you have seen it, it’s beauty, strength and power always touches you.

Note: I am on Retreat at the moment in Garrvoe along with the other Priest of the Cork & Ross Diocese. So the bits and pieces here will return on Friday coming

Thought For The Week

‘Buried deep within each of us is a spark of greatness, a spark that can be fanned into flames of passion and achievement. That spark is not outside of you it is born deep within you.’ ~James A.Ray

The image of a spark is full of meaning and so symbolic. It is an image that has been with us since fire was first created by our ancient ancestors. Fire has always been viewed as divine and many cultures see fire as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. It always needs to be respected and we also know fire can be destructive too.

When we say we have lost our spark for life we are in a very difficult situation, there is no energy flowing in us, we feel surrounded by darkness and find no motivation to do anything. There are so many sparks we could talk about, a spark of kindness, of love, of support, of understanding, of comfort, of light, of hope, of meaning and so much more. The Divine spark within each of us is the ignition for every other spark. This Divine spark is unique and is not outside of us. It has been born deep within us. It is special; it is always there and can help rekindle the spark of life within us.

It is so true how we can take our Divine spark for granted. At the heart of all spiritualities including Christian spirituality, is the core belief that a Divine spark rests within each of us. That is why from a Christian viewpoint, we say each person is sacred. We also say each person is special, unique and precious. We pray today asking God to be our spark, to be the spark that fills us with hope, that gets us restarted and the one who gives us meaning and purpose. Can you be a spark of love and kindness for someone today?
