This was the threshing that took place yesterday afternoon at Ballinadee, near Kinsale, Co.Cork Sheafs of oats were fed into the threshing machine from above, which then separates the oats on one side and the straw on the other side. The machine itself is almost a 100 years old and still going strong.

Mindful Prayer🙏: Loving God, as we begin this month of November and as continue to remember with love our loved ones who have gone on before us, help me to get through the days when I especially miss my loved one. Amen

Thought For The Week

We celebrated All Saints day yesterday November 1st. All Saints Day is one of our most beautiful feast days that we have, packed with meaning and symbolism. It is the most natural thing in the world to wrap today’s feast day in with the celebration of Halloween. If Halloween is all about darkness, the unknown and scary stuff, then All Saints Day is simply the other side of the coin, celebrating light, hope and new beginnings.

In life balance, Halloween is the yin and All Saints Day is the yang. Both are connected and joined together in beautiful balance.  In ancient times today November 1st marked the beginning of the New Year with the festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the Celtic year and the beginning of the new one.

All Saint’s Day looks at all those who have gone on before us, not just the famous saints, but people who were special and important in our own lives. All Saint’s Day reminds us that these people also lived lives of light and hope. These people lived quiet and ordinary lives but who today are our inspiration. We simply call them Saints. Their faith and their love still surround us. This will never go away. They are our inspiration today reminding us of what’s possible in our own lives.

It is a beautiful feast day. All Saints Day reminds us that we are all part of one great spiritual family united in God’s love. God’s love is the most beautiful blessing we have. We share it every single day in whatever way we can.
