'Moonlit Winter Wonderland'
(Archived on Sunday - December - 09/12/2018 )

From the archive taken 10 years ago at Tooreenbawn, Millstreet, Co.Cork (Irl)
The moon has been 30% brighter and 14% bigger over the past few nights because of its closest proximity to earth since 1993. This combination provided enough light on Saturday night to capture a snow covered landscape with Caherbarnagh and Clara mountains near Millstreet in the distance. The moonlight was strong enough to throw shadows of nearby trees into the path of the picture.

"Don't walk in front of me I may not follow. Don't walk behind me I may not lead. Walk beside be and just be my friend." ~Author Unknown

The X Factor final on TV over the weekend has been a big talking point. It was one of the most watched programmes in recent times. Huge expectations were resting on the three finalists. There are also high expectations put on all of us in these weeks before Christmas. Some of these are artificially high. We are expected to be in good form, to be in good spirits, to be able to buy gifts at ease and to be in many places at one time. Not everyone can meet these high expectations and particularly during the current recession. This can lead to so much unnecessary stress and worry. The greatest gift we can give to those closest to us is to walk with them and be their friend. When we do this we pull down all expectations and allow someone just to be themselves. No shopping catalogue could ever match such a gift.
