'Cow Jam!' This photo was taken at the Priests Leap near Bantry in West Cork and it also has got it's own spiritual message. Most cities have to deal with traffic jams but in places like West Cork you may have to deal with cow jams too! These cows were in no rush out of the way during the week and how right they were!

It has been well documented how we rush and race everywhere. The Covid lockdowns may have slowed us down but only briefly. We are back to our old habits again of being incredibly busy. If there isn't time to slow down, we miss the heartbeat of life, we miss what's really important, we miss all the simple and beautiful moments. The beauty of today just slips us by.

Does every moment of every day have to be so busy? Of course not. The cows on the road remind us of the importance of a quieter pace in the midst of busyness. Quiet time and quiet moments are good for our soul. Only we we can make them happen. Psalm 46:10 sums it up best: "Be still and know that I am God."

'God is not a static thing, not even a person, but a dynamic, pulsating activity, a life, almost a kind of drama. Almost, if you will not think me irreverent, a kind of dance.' C.S Lewis

Sunday was Trinity Sunday. It is sometimes easy to get caught up in the numbers game, one in three, three in one and then come up with explanations. One certainty in life is that we will never fully understand God. We can never describe God from A to Z. It's a lifetime journey to put all the pieces together. But we do have endless pointers on the journey of life that remind us of God's unique presence in our world and universe.

Some of these describe God as love, as our creator, who is generous, who is with us always, who forgives wholeheartedly, who delights in each of us, who trusts us, encourages us, watches over us, comforts us and someone who brings light and hope to our dark corners. There are thousands of more words that could be added and we would still be short. In trying to understand God we must always remember God's endless love for each of us. Everything else evolves from this.

Trinity Sunday reminds us that there are many things in our world and in our lives that we do not fully understand. It is the bad and sad stories that so often grab the headlines. But God's love will always be visible and wherever its presence or energy is, we have nothing to fear. We are not in isolation but part of a community built on love in all its forms. Trinity may be surrounded in mystery but there is no mystery about the difference God's love makes in our world and lives.
