Bogdan was the youngest of twelve children, born to a devoutly Croatian Couple in Dalmatia (now Croatia). He had grew to be less than four foot six inches tall and later developed a limp from arthritis. He also had a speech impediment but none of these stopped him from his work as a priest with the Capuchin order. He spent many hours in the confessional treating every penitent with extreme attention and great love. He was regarded as a saint in his lifetime with claims of miraculous cures being obtained through his prayers. He died in 1942 and in 1944 during World War II his church and monastery were destroyed in the bombing. But his confessional or his cell as he called it remained intact. He had prophesied to friend before his death that this would happen, claiming that so many souls had been saved in his cell that it had to stay undamaged. A special chapel was later built next to this confessional and his body was reburied there. He was canonised a saint in 1983.
