Michael was one of the associates of St.John Bosco in his educationl work in northern Italy and in the establishment of the Salesian order. Much of his life was spent as an administrator and as such we was a perfectionist. His attention to all details earned him the nickname ‘the living Rule’. He set up many school courses. He opened up the whole education system to include as many as possible. He set up social circles and hostels for boarders. His work with John Bosco was recognised when he was beatified in 1972. He is buried beside John Bosco with the words on his graveside “The Second Father of the Salesian Family.”
