This Augustine is not the famous St.Augustine. Augustine of Canterbury was the pioneer builder of the conversion of the Anglo Saxons in England. During 10 years of hard work in the south east of England, Augustine laid the foundations, converted the King, built a cathedral and monastery at Canterbury and founded the diocese of London and Rochester. The long task of building the church in this part of England was finished by those who came after him. By the time he died, ten years after the start of his mission, Augustine had established many local achievements.
