Her Christian name was Camilla and came from a social background of magnificence which was totally at odds with the life she was to choose. She eventually joined the Poor Clares taking the name Baptista in religion. Her father, saw that the only way to keep contact with her was to build a convent on his own lands which he did at his own expense. She led an intense spiritual life, the fruits of which were felt by many.
