Despite lots of distractions these guards on duty do such a good job. They don’t move, blink, chat or smile which leaves them plenty of time to just concentrate!

Thought For The Week

‘Even if you’re little, you can do a lot, you mustn’t let a little thing like little stop you’ ~from the musical Matilda

I was privileged to get a chance to travel with Transition Year students from Col√°iste Choilm to London during the week. For many students it was their first time visiting London. Any such trip will include a visit to the famous landmarks, like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace but also a chance to see some drama show or musical like ‘Matilda’. The musical ‘Matilda’ is indeed spectacular from the colourful set, to presentation, dance, music and song. One of the key songs is called ‘When I Grow Up’ and at its heart is a wish to be positive, upbeat and that nothing is impossible if we truly believe that it will happen.

But for many people its the little things that become the stumbling blocks. In our Gospel stories Jesus is the one who constantly helped people remove the obstacles that stopped people living their lives to the full. We worry about all that happened yesterday and what will happen tomorrow and forget all that today has to offer. We often say it’s the little things that matter and they do. We can allow them to become obstacles or allow them to become stepping stones to appreciating the beauty of the present moment. Life can so often be complicated and difficult. There are enough things out of our control. Thankfully we are in control of many little things in life. Are your little things a stop sign or a stepping stone?
