Photo was taken in Col√°iste Choilm, Ballincollig yesterday to mark the Graduation Class of 2015

This was the huge backdrop painted by 6th Year student Oisin Delea, which hung proudly in the school hall at Colaiste Choilm yesterday. The idea and theme were picked by the 6th Year students themselves. The dandelion seeds blowing off in different directions is very symbolic of the ending of their journey in school and the beginning of the next chapter in their young lives.

Thought For The Week

It is the time of year when Leaving Cert Graduation Masses/Services are taking place all over the city and county. The following reflection was read at Ballincollig Community School’s Graduation last Thursday evening by Kate Lynch and Donna Heinen

Our lives are marked forever by those we meet. May you be blessed with good friends. Our lives are marked forever by our friendship and the love we experience. May you learn to be a good friend to yourself. Our lives are marked forever by the quarrels and the reconciliations. May you be able to journey to that place in your soul where there is great love, warmth and forgiveness. Our lives are marked forever by the works we have tried to do together, for each other and for the less fortunate. All this has given us something that will last. May this change you. May it transfigure that which is negative, distant or cold in you. May you be brought into the real passion, kinship and affinity of belonging. Long after we’ve forgotten the marks of our exams, we’ll remember and treasure the friendships, the times of growth, the fun, the quarrels , the laughter and the jokes. May you be good to your friends and be there for them. May they bring you all the blessings, challenges, truth and light that you need for your journey. We’ll remember how we helped each other grow as men and women in faith, hope and love. May what we have done in our school be given to many others in our lives. May you never be isolated and may you always be in the gentle nest of belongings with your Anam Cara.
