Photo was taken yesterday at Millstreet, Co.Cork (Irl)

The Millstreet St Patrick’s Day parade was an outstanding success. It is one of the last parades to take place at 5pm but it is very much saving the best for last! There was so much colour, energy, music, song, dance, noise, variety and lots of smiles!

Thought on Friday – March – 18/03/2016

Last Tuesday was a day of song, music, drama, poetry and art in Ireland’s 4,000 schools and third-level colleges as they celebrated Proclamation Day, commemorating events of Ireland in 1916 and creating a vision for the country in the future. The Irish flag was raised in each school with a reading of the Proclamation from 1916. A lovely addition was the reading of the students own Proclamation and included issues they feel are important 100 years on. Many of these new proclamations included a voice for the homeless and poor.

St Patrick had his own beautiful proclamation too. At the heart of his proclamation is that God is present in the very heartbeat of life and that God is close and near to us not just occasionally but every moment of every single day. He summed up his proclamation in the beautiful prayer of St Patrick

Christ be with me

Christ within me

Christ behind me

Christ before me

Christ beside me

Christ to win me

Christ to comfort and restore me

Christ beneath me

Christ above me

Christ in quiet and in danger

Christ in the hearts of all that love me

Amen
