Thought For The Week

Stumbling Block or Stepping Stone?

You are a stumbling block when you are unkind or unjust in the way you treat others. But you are a stepping stone when you support me and others in moments of weakness and doubt.

You are a stumbling block when you keep me down, hold me back or make me inferior. But you are a stepping stone when you help me to believe in myself and boost my self confidence.

You are a stumbling block when you exclude me or ignore me. But you are a stepping stone when you help me to grow and develop my potential.

You are a stumbling block when you criticise me, sour me with cynicism and destroy my dreams. But you are a stepping stone when you understand and listen to me and accept me as I am.

In our Gospels Jesus was very much aware of the many stumbling blocks that we all face. But when ever he found them he always made sure to put stepping stones as well. What stepping stones do I need today and during the week? Can I be a stepping stone for someone?
