‘Angels have a hidden agenda – love.’ ~Author Unknown

As a child we were reminded about our guardian angel watching over and protecting us. It was comforting and consoling to know that we had someone special looking after us. But our guardian angel journeys with us every step of our life’s journey and not just our childhood.

A guardian angel isn’t fantasy or some form of magic. We all have one and only one. We cannot sell it and we cannot share it with anyone. The relationship between our guardian angel and ourselves is uniquely personal and special. Some immediately dismiss the notion of a guardian angel as total nonsense and made-up fantasy. But there is a huge swell of believers including myself who have great devotion to our guardian angel.

Our scriptures have also many references to angels. They are real, active and can best be beautifully described as God’s protective love very near and close to us. They will never force us to do anything. We are always free to make our choices. As our silent and trustworthy advisor, our angel stays by our side and encourages us to be a person of light and love. In a world where there is often so much uncertainty, divisions and fear, it is good to know that God’s protective love is near and close to us constantly.

Last weekend (Oct 2nd) was their feast day and it was a celebration of your guardian angel. A fitting prayer each day might be: “O Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day, be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen”
