Thought on Sunday – November – 14/11/2021

We have heard a lot about the Cop26 summit last week in Glasgow. It ran again this week. There has been a lot of talk on climate change and clearly not enough action so far. The following is a prayer that I have put together called ‘Prayer on Climate Change’.

Prayer On Climate Change:

Loving God, we thank you for our planet earth which is our home. It has evolved over millions of years.

It continues to be a source of life and a place that holds all our lives together.

Today our planet is under threat from pollution, climate change, and increasing carbon dioxide levels.

As our planet heats up the cycles of life are out of balance and under threat.

We pray that our world political leaders will continue to make good decisions that will impact our future for the better.

We pray for a world that will not be threatened by a changing climate that chokes our atmosphere.

We pray for a world where the poorest and most vulnerable can live their lives fairly and with hope.

We pray that this wonderful planet of ours will be in a much better shape for future generations.

We pray for a team effort, not just at a global level but also in our own local community and parish.

Help us all to be the difference. Help us to know that every small and tiny change (even if it seems it won’t make a difference) in reducing our carbon footprint does in fact make a world of a difference. Amen
