Earth Day was yesterday April 22nd. It is about doing things to help protect our planet earth, to keep it clean and healthy. The cynic might say why bother, the optimist says every little helps. It’s the simple things that we can all do, that make the biggest difference.

If we don’t do the small things who else will. We owe it to the generations coming after us. It also our Christian call and duty to do something that will make a difference.

I have put together a short video to mark Earth Day and it is called ‘Earth Day – Simple Things You Can Do’

All the normal bits and pieces here in this section will return as normal next Monday

Thought on Saturday – April – 23/04/2022

The Easter story is all about celebration. The story could have so easily ended on Good Friday. We can all connect with Good Friday. It picks up on our sadness, our pain, our challenges, our difficulties and the crosses we all have to carry in life from time to time.

As Christians we believe that our story does not end on Good Friday. There has to be something more. That is why Easter is so important to us. Easter is all about hope, new beginnings, new life and taking small steps forward in hope. It is about believing in ourselves, believing in love and kindness and being open to God’s blessings in our lives.

It doesn’t mean we have it all worked out and that we have all the answers. Well I most certainly don’t and I am happy to search, to question, to doubt but also to find great strenth and hope in my faith. I hope your story is one of hope too today.

While out for a walk during the week I came across a fallen tree. It was blown over in a storm some years ago. But the tree did not give up. Some of the roots were still connected to the ground, and so over time the fallen tree pushed up new shoots. Over time these have grown upright over the fallen tree. This tree decided that there was the possibility of new beginnings and new life. It’s upright branches are now supporting new life and new beginnings.

The remains and scars of Good Friday may still be visibly seen in our lives. But the new story evolving from the old story is what Easter is all about. Wishing you a Happy Easter and praying God’s many blessings on you this Easter.
