Thought for Holy Saturday

Today Holy Saturday is a day of waiting. It is sometimes called the in-between day. We are not good at waiting. We live in an instant world of connections, deliveries on demand and trying to have everything not tomorrow but today. Our younger generations know of nothing else. So waiting is a much bigger challenge for everyone.

But the story of Easter is about waiting. We wait in hope and sometimes this waiting is in darkness. The awfulness of Good Friday and the Hope of Easter go side by side. The story could have just ended on Good Friday but thankfully we can celebrate Easter Sunday.

The story of Good Friday is very much our story. It picks up on our sadness, our pain, our challenges, our difficulties and the crosses we all have to carry in life from time to time. But some people choose to stay in Good Friday. They forget to take the step out of the tomb into the light. A small nervous step forward towards new beginnings is infinitely better than none at all.

As Christians we believe that our story does not end on Good Friday. There has to be something more. Easter is all about hope, new beginnings, new life and taking small steps forward in hope. It is about believing in ourselves, believing in love and kindness and being open to God’s blessings in our lives.
I hope you have a lovely Holy Saturday whatever your plans are for today. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Easter
