This is the view of Kanturk on a wintry day looking across at the centre of the town.

Mindful Quote😇: “The river knows its way without looking ahead.”

Mindful Prayer🙏: Loving God, sometimes I keep looking ahead and forget about where I am now. Help me to live in the moment that is now as best I can. Amen

Thought For The Week

I was at the Machinery Show in Millstreet during the week. There was an impressive show of new tractors and all sorts of farm machinery on display. There were also big crowds in attendance with something of interest for everyone including trade stands. One of those that always gets lots of interest, are the lights available for tractors and trailers. With LED technology there are so many options to choose from. It serves two main purposes, to increase the amount of light in front of you but also to make sure others see you too.

In our readings at the weekend from Isaiah and the gospel of Matthew there are two lines that particularly stand out: “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light, on those who live in a land of deep shadow, a light has shone.” These beautiful spiritual lines connect so well with us today and connect to the world we live in. Let’s be honest there is darkness and lots of shadows all over the place. We desperately need light and hope.

The readings invite us to reflect on who can be our light and hope. Maybe it is someone special in your life, a family member, a friend, a belief in God, a belief in Jesus, a belief in your guardian angel or something else unique to you. It can be one of these or a combination of many of them. But it is so important to have some light and hope in your life today.
