Today is Aintree Grand National Day. It is one of the toughest horse races in the world. Whichever horse does win will be a worthy winner. Our photo today picks up on two hardy souls who are quite willing to go every step with their horse!

‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.’ ~Martin Luther King Jr

Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King. He has left a huge mark on the world of politics. He is most famous in the struggle for black equality in America, for their voting rights and other basic civil rights. He organised non violent protests that produced waves of sympathetic public opinion. He made what seemed like massive obstacles, opportunities for a whole series of sweeping changes. He was also a great speaker and much of what he said inspired and made sense to people of every walk of life. In our world that is often dominated by violence, the voice of Martin Luther King is still needed. His way was of peace and love. His message needs to be heard even more today.
