The Mantellate Sisters main activity when they were formed was caring for the sick. Juliana of Mantua is regarded as their foundress even though she was not the first to join up. She became the superior, described as conscientious and hardworking. The congregation has houses on mainland Europe and it spread to the U.S.A and Canada with the Sisters involved in education at all levels. They work in parishes, hospital and prison chaplaincies, counselling services and care of cancer and Aids sufferers
