‘In running it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack or last. You can say, “I have finished.” There is a lot of satisfaction in that.’ ~Fred Lebow

Tomorrow in Cork the annual Evening Echo Women’s mini marathon is going to take place. Up to 12,000 women will be taking part and no doubt a few lads to be found somewhere in the middle! It’s a great occasion and particularly this year as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. Everyone will be there to enjoy themselves, have a laugh and most importantly to raise thousands of Euros for so many different charities. Life is a collection of all our stories. Even in the midst of the sad and difficult stories we always dig deep to find love, light and hope. Tomorrow is a collection of all these stories. The history of running and athletics has its origins in Greece. Great honour was given to the winners but just to be a participant was always a high honour in the Greek democratic mind. So to everyone taking part tomorrow, well done and congratulations. We thank God that you are part of 12,000 stories of good news. Put them all together and we have indeed something really special.
