She is one of the patron saints of Portugal. Her body ws found to be incorrupt when it was exhumed in 1612. She was canonised a saint in 1625. Miracles were soon attributed to her shortly after she had died. In art she is often depicted with her great aunt, Elizabeth of Hungary. Both are sometimes shown carrying roses, from the story that when their husbands tried to prevent them giving alms to the poor the money they were carrying turned to roses.
