Daniel O’Donnell and Eily Buckley were very relaxed at the start of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Millstreet. He was the Grand Marshall for the parade with his wife Majella.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ within me, Christ below me, Christ above me, Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand, Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my waking, Christ in the heart of all who think of me, Christ in the mouth of all who speak of me, Christ in every eye that looks at me, Christ in every ear that listens to me. ~Prayer of St Patrick

Today right across the world Irish people will celebrate a really special day. Green is the one colour that takes over and makes this day its own. It is a day to be proud to be Irish and to be proud of any connection with Ireland. St Patrick had great devotion to God and was always sensitive to God’s presence in creation. In today’s world where many people drift aimlessly in life, Patrick is a voice of hope. He took great confidence from God’s presence in his life. In his own personal writings he explains how prayer helped him with his own struggles. He talks about how he overcame seemingly impossible difficulties through prayer.

Today the feast of St Patrick is a day to celebrate all that is good in our lives and all around us. It’s a day to acknowledge God’s gentle presence in our lives. It’s a day to pause for a moment in prayer and like Patrick not to be afraid to ask God for guidance, direction and an abundance of blessings.
