Yesterday (Sep 14th) was the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. It is not celebrating the cross itself but rather how Jesus triumphed over the cross. The following reflection explains it really well.

Carrying Our Cross.
It is the person who has been through an illness or a sickness who will appreciate the gift of health.
It is the person who has been bereaved who will understand the grief of pain and how it can be so difficult to get going again.
It is the person who is separated or whose marriage has broken up, who will appreciate the support of family and the strength of friendship.
It is the person who has been touched and moved by love who will share that love with somebody else.
It is Jesus who was mocked, spat upon, made fun of, stripped of his clothes and then crucified who knows and understands our crosses in life and who knows how difficult it can be at times for all of us.
It is this same Jesus who helps us carry our cross too.

Thought For The Week

Sometimes we forget or underestimate the difference one can make. The following reflection makes a lot of sense with a lovely finish.

The Difference One Can Make

One song can spark a moment,

One tree can start a forest,

One bird can herald spring,

One smile begins a friendship,

One star can guide a ship at sea,

One vote can change a nation,

One sunbeam lights up a room,

One candle wipes out darkness,

One laugh will lift sadness,

One step must start each journey,

One word must start each prayer,

One touch can show you care,

One heart can know what’s true,

One life can make the difference,

The one is you and it’s up to you.
