Today September 8th is the feast day of the birthday of Mary, the mother of Jesus. All birthdays are special and it’s right too that Mary has her day. We all know how important our birthday is and we always make an effort to celebrate the birthdays of family members and friends.Any birthday is a reminder how special that person is including Mary.  It is a joyful day and a day of blessings. We ask her many blessings on you today.

Mindful Quote😇:  ‘Everyone has inside them a piece of good news. The good news is you don’t know how great you can be. How much you can love. What you can accomplish and what your potential is.” ~Anne Frank

Mindful Prayer🙏:  Loving God, help me to believe in my good news. Help me to understand how my love makes a beautiful difference today and every day.

Spiritual Thought For The Week🙏

Yesterday a young man named Carlo Acutis was canonised a Saint by Pope Leo in Saint Peter’s square in Rome. It is a historic occasion for several reasons. Carlo Acutis is the first Millennial Saint and will be the first saint to be canonised by our new pope. He was born on May 3rd 1991 and died from leukaemia on Oct 12th 2006. At least two miracles have been attributed to his intercession and this number looks set to grow. The life of Carlo may have been a short 15 years but in that time he did so much. His appeal crosses all age groups, but with particular appeal for young people.

From a young age, Carlo had a special love of God even though his parents were not initially particularly religious. He was gifted at working with computers. He taught himself some of the basic coding languages including C and C++. Carlo used his computer skills to create a website that promoted his love of the Eucharist.  He loved playing video games using PlayStation and Xbox. He is the first modern saint to have had an email address!

What does Carlo Acutis becoming a saint mean for us? The fact that he is a young person and only died in 2006 makes him a very modern saint. His life shows that it is possible to live a healthy spiritual life while also engaging with modern technology in a positive way. He found this beautiful balance which is so rare today. Carlo had a great love of Jesus whose presence he really felt in the Eucharist. He felt his call was to share this great love of Jesus by using modern technology. We ask his many beautiful blessings on all of us and especially on all young people.
