Photo was taken over the weekend at Ellinstown, Co.Kildare (Irl)

These two cats seem really happy and content on top of a bag of shavings, in some lovely afternoon sunshine.

‘Just as the earth and nature draw life from the sun, our body, spirit and soul will not thrive without some ray of happiness or at least a memory of happiness, however flimsy or tenuous it may be.’ ~Finbar Wright

The season of autumn is very much in the air these days. While there have been no frosts yet, the days are getting noticeably shorter, the leaves are slowly turning a golden colour and nature is on a slow unwind. The seasons of autumn and winter are caused as the earth slowly tilts away from the sun, with resulting decreased light and colder temperatures. But even though the earth may tilt away for some months, the sun still has a huge impact to play. Spiritually we need sunshine in our lives too. There are plenty of things in our lives that block out the sunshine. Every person carries some sadness, problem, burden or worry. For others these can become a heavy load. It is hard to understand or make sense of why life can be so burdensome at times. But no matter what our story we need some ray of happiness or some uplifting moment in our lives each day. It is up to us to make this happen no matter how tiny or insignificant it may be. If someone is incapable of doing this right now for themselves, then our gift to that person is to make it happen for them. It may be a smile, a prayer, a reassuring word, a phone call, a visit or whatever is good for us. What will your ray of sunshine be today?
