Photo was taken at Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork (Irl)

I took this picture last Thursday (March 1st). When you see bumblebees out so early in the year it is a sure sign that spring has arrived.

‘Failure is in many ways the best teacher of all. It makes you more alert and you always learn something especially humility. It also gives you knowledge of your own limitations. People who know a lot of failure are usually the most human of all.’ ~Donagh O’Shea

Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is top of the golfing world this week at the age of 22, after officially becoming the game’s No 1 player last Sunday. He has known his share of failure in recent years but he has made sure to turn such failure into victory with patience and time. After becoming number one he said: “it shows if you work hard and dedicate yourself, in the end great things can happen.” To be successful is sought after by so many people. It is the driving force behind everything we do. But it also has a downside too. If we always want to be successful at any cost, then the chances are high that we are afraid of failure. In young people, particularly lads, there is a belief that they mustn’t fail among their friends. The constant message must be that it’s ok to fail and that there is life after failure. In life there is no person perfect, there is nothing that hasn’t some flaw and everyone is fragile and vulnerable in some way. As believers we are always called to be people of hope, to stand proud and tall and to believe totally in how special each of us are.
